Council History
Council 6686 was instituted on July 2, 1975. There are 33 charter members of the council. Membership was drawn from 3 parishes – St
Brendan in Bothell, Holy Family in Kirkland and St John Vianney in
Kenmore.
The council selected “Josef Cardinal Mindszenty” as its name. The
charter grand knight of record for the council is Tom Lacy. However,
after an extremely short tenure, Tom was followed by Michael Hanrahan
who is widely recognized as the council’s first grand knight.
In 1979, the council moved into a home on 185th St in Bothell making
this the council meeting hall. In 1980, the council purchased land north
of Bothell. On the property was a pole barn. With the hard work &
financial support of members of the council, the land and barn were
upgraded. In 1983, the council moved into its new KC Hall at 24323
Bothell WA SE.
From this council, several new councils were formed. In 1979, the first
split took place as a new council was formed at Holy Family Kirkland.
Additional councils have been fostered from the Bothell council
including the council at St. Jude in Redmond, the council at St. John
Vianney in Kirkland, and most recently the council at Blessed Teresa in
Woodinville.
In 1995, Father Justin Garvey was transferred to St Brendan Parish to
serve as assistant chaplain. While at St. Brendan, Father Garvey served
as the council chaplain. He made such an immediate and solid impact on
the council spiritually, socially and fraternally. After his tour of
duty at St. Brendan, he retired to the Passionist Mother house in Union
City, New Jersey where he died on February 5, 1997. Father Garvey
had such a strong affiliation with the Bothell Council and made such a
profound impact during his tenure at St. Brendan, that the council
renamed itself in 1997 as the Father Justin P Garvey Council.

Church located at 10051 NE 195th St, Bothell, WA.
